Lapping and Polishing Slurries
for safe, cost-effective lapping
Norton CRE slurries are water or oil-based, fully suspended, rust-inhibited slurries made from tightly sized precision alumina or fused Al2O3 grain.
Norton CRE slurries are offered in the following average micron particle sizes:
- 0.3 to 50.0 microns in precision alumina
- 5.0 to 52.0 microns in fused aluminum oxide

Why use Norton CRE slurries?
Fine grain gives good finishes, but low or zero stock removal. CRE allows the use of a finer grain in place of a coarser, larger particle-sized grain.
What do you gain?
Rapid lapping stock removal yields low finish and less sub-surface damage, resulting in significant savings in subsequent work piece polishing.
Where is Norton CRE used?
These new CRE slurries have been used successfully on piston rings, precision bearings, aerospace parts, seals, rings and gears. Also, glasses, zirconia, aluminum, device-quality crystals and ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
How do I find out if Norton CRE slurries will improve my lapping operations?
We have a well-equipped lapping and polishing laboratory where customer samples are constantly being tested to sele4ct optimum Norton CRE slurry size and formulation for the work piece to meet or exceed customer requirements.
